Values & Philosophy

At Purple Paintbrush Therapy, we believe every child and family is unique. Our approach is centered around understanding the whole child, their strengths, interests, challenges, relationships, environments and the everyday activities that are meaningful to them.

Client & Family-Centered

Your child and family are at the heart of therapy. Taking the time to listen to what is important to you and work together to develop goals that are meaningful, practical and relevant to everyday life.

Therapy is a partnership, and we aim to provide support that works with your family rather than adding another demand to an already busy life.

Holistic

We look beyond an individual skill or challenge and consider the whole child. This means thinking about their physical, sensory, emotional, social and environmental needs, as well as their strengths and interests.

A child’s ability to participate in an activity can be influenced by many different factors. By looking at the bigger picture, we can better understand what may be helping or getting in the way and find practical ways to support participation.

Inclusive

We believe every child deserves to feel valued, respected and included.

We welcome children and families with different abilities, identities, backgrounds and ways of experiencing the world. Rather than expecting a child to fit into one particular way of doing things, we look at how activities and environments can be adapted to better support the individual.

A Welcoming Space

Above all, we want therapy to feel safe, welcoming and approachable.

Children learn and develop best when they feel comfortable being themselves. Sessions are designed to be engaging and responsive to the child, with space to play, explore, make mistakes and try again at their own pace.

Whether we are working with your child at home, in the community or virtually, our goal is to create an environment where children and families feel heard, supported and welcome.
